Javier Chaparro

Javier ChaparroA native of Lima, Peru, Javier Chaparro began his formal study of violin at the National Conservatory in Lima. He has worked in several orchestras including the Sinfonica Nacional in Lima, Fine Arts Theatre Orchestra in Mexico City, Austin Symphony, and held the post of Concert Master for the Brazos Valley Symphony since 1992.

He has given solo and chamber music recitals in the United States, South America, and Europe. He also has an eclectice music career, performing Latin, Jazz, Gypsy, Pops, and Country Western music. Recently, his Latir trio, Los Romanceros, celebrated their 25th anniversary with a concert in Oahu, Hawaii.

He has been the featured artist in films and documentaries including PBS’s Hansel Meith, The Alamo, Spy Kids, IMAX’s Ride Around The World, Loaves and Fishes and soon to be released Cowboy Smoke.

Currently, he is composing original music and can be found playing and singing in Austin with his multiple musical groups. Oh yes, in his spare time, he is an avid horseman.
