Daniel Snyder, tenor
Daniel Snyder is becoming recognized for his strong dramatic sense and musical commitment to performance. In the past 3 seasons, the tenor has added 14 roles to his operatic appearances on stage in the United States and South America. Mr Snyder has garnered appreciative reviews in roles like ‘Hoffmann’, where the Washington Times declared him “the embodiment of the haunted storyteller”, and ‘Don Jose’ in Carmen, leading the Shreveport Times to call his portrayal “devastating”. Recently enjoying success as ‘Jimmy’ with Opera Boston in the Kurt Weill opera Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, he returns to Boston as ‘Max’ in Der Freischutz. He performs frequently with Opera Theater Pittsburgh, and has appeared with Long Beach Opera, Virginia Opera, and the Xalapa summer music festival among other regional appearances.
Valued for his innate musicality, Mr. Snyder enjoys a parallel career as a concert singer privileged to appear in some of the nation’s finest halls. This season he was featured in the Verdi Requiem at Carnegie Hall, in Oakland with the Oakland Symphony, and also at the Richmond Symphony, among others. Highlights of his concert career include Beethoven’s 9th with the Seattle Symphony, Handel’s Messiah at the Kennedy Center, and a rare performance of Frank Martin’s In Terra Pax with the National Cathedral Choral Society. He has been a soloist with the Toledo, Vermont, and Springfield Massachusetts symphonies, as well as the Washington Bach Consort, and the National Philharmonic. He has recorded with the Berliner Rundfunk Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Schwarz in Kurt Weill’s ‘Eternal Road’ for Naxos records.
