Broberg & Beethoven
Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 “Pastoral Symphony”
Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 "Emperor Concerto”
Kenny Broberg, Cliburn Silver Medalist
The BVSO performs a duo from the classic of all classics: Beethoven – as the world celebrates his 250th birthday. His playful ‘Pastoral’ Symphony captures the very human need to commune with nature. The composer was known to take long walks in the woods to revitalize his spirit and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Music Director, Marcelo Bussiki and the orchestra will perform this masterpiece likened to a beautiful landscape painting, intended to capture all the emotions that nature can evoke. Next, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, Emperor — the final and perhaps grandest of Beethoven’s piano concertos:it’s virtuosic, it’s heroic, but at the same time audiences will find moments of intimacy and poetry. Cliburn Silver Medalist, Kenny Broberg will interpret the Emperor Concerto for us and is forging a reputation for “a blazing intellect, impeccable technical skills, and the ability to build a strikingly imaginative program.” His fresh interpretations are complemented by a natural, honest, stage presence and “an almost miraculous array of tone qualities,” –Theatre Jones.
